Plate Heat Exchangers

Since inventing the plate heat exchanger nearly 90 years ago, SPX's APV brand has continued to develop innovative design features. Common applications include: milk, tomato sauce, infant formula, fruit juice, beer, cheese sauce.

Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers

SPX covers the full range of Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers (SSHE) from low to high pressure ranges through the trusted brands of APV, Gerstenberg Schröder and the pioneer of SSHE technology, Waukesha Cherry-Burrell (WCB) with its Votator brand product. The "Votating" production method for foods such as butter has been replacing slow batch processes for nearly 90 years now.

Gerstenberg Schröder is recognized as a leading manufacturer of food processing equipment utilizing SSHE technology specializing in the crystallization of fats and oils. This brand offers the Nexus SSHE which has been proven to bring much greater efficiency and improved food quality in the production of viscous products such as margarine. Uniquely, it uses the natural refrigerant CO2 - which has less environmental impact and provides significant energy saving over traditional cooling methods.

Common applications for SSHE technology include: cheese sauce, butter, margarine, spreads, mayonnaise, dressings, pudding, caramel, deboned meat, pet food, and fruit products.
