Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers ensures smooth continuous performance

Published 07 March 2013 | By SPX Corporation

The SPX brand Waukesha Cherry-Burrell (WCB) is probably best known for its excellent positive displacement pumps. The brand also has, however, a hugely successful leading range of Votator scraped surface heat exchangers, which it has been producing for over 80 years.

An extremely effective and robust production solution

The Votator scraped surface heat exchanger provides high efficiency and productivity results. The technology, which uses blades to continuously scrape product from the wall of the heat exchanger, is designed to handle highly viscous fluids or products, which
contain particles.

The movement of the scrper blades across the tubular wall of the heat exchanger enhances heat transfer efficiencies and produces a homogenous mixture to ensure even heating or cooling. It also prevents product remaining on the heat transfer surface for long periods - minimising or eliminating burn-on and protecting the product qualities.

The Votator range provides the user with exceptional peace of mind that the process will be effective and that production will continue without undue shut down - ensuring less unplanned maintenance than with some alternate heat transfer technologies. The
units are also designed for quick and easy maintenance, keeping times for planned service work to a minimum.

The Votator technology has a long service life. It is secure, strong and provides great durability. There is a choice of models to meet various needs - from the Votator 4x120, designed to cost-effectively meet the majority of requirements, to the Votator II models
which offer a huge selection of features and options including an Extra Heavy Duty (XHD) model with up to 30hp motor. All are of hygienic design, for use in a wide range of food applications including sauces, soups, freeze drying coffee, mechanically
deboned meat, cheeses, creams, peanut butter and many more.

Purchasing a WCB scraped surface heat exchanger is not just about buying advanced, innovative technology; it is about buying world-class knowledge and expertise. SPX focuses on getting the design right for each particular application. Over-complicated
sizing tools cannot replace the decades of empirical knowledge within the SPX database that is based on real, practical information. Rich with features and options, the range offers flexibility to tackle even the toughest of applications.

The Votator products can also be further customised to meet customer needs and SPX has a long and successful history of working closely with users to gain the product qualities they desire before the food is packaged. Votator heat exchangers are truly designed to give the peace of mind of an extremely effective and robust production solution.
