Chinese Bottling and Processing Technology goes to Africa

Published 16 July 2012 | By Alectia

Carlsberg Malawi will soon be able to open the doors to a packaging plant that sets new standards for African bottling design, with use of Chinese technology.

case study

The African market for beer and soft drinks is in rapid growth, and the opportunities for the brewing and soft drinks industry are great. Recognising the need for expansion and development of their packaging facilities, Carlsberg Malawi has asked ALECTIA to assist them in establishing a new production facility as a green field project with new buildings, utilities, water and waste water treatment and the installation of a new packaging plant with a syrup preparation plant for soft drinks.

Chinese brewing technology in Africa

The budgets of African breweries and soft drink plants are limited. This calls for new ways to design and build production facilities that are both cost effective and of a good quality.

Christian Luxhøj, Account Director at ALECTIA tells: "In order to keep up with the challenging market conditions, global producers of beer and soft drinks now look for new ways to improve their business and investments. Chinese know-how in relation to brewing and soft drink production has undergone tremendous development in recent years. For the Carlsberg Malawi, the use of Chinese know-how and technology has been a great way to create a best-in-class facility that is still cost-effective."

ALECTIA has a strong foundation of Chinese talents that have been appointed to bridge the gap between China related equipment, technologies, general business opportunities and the evolving demand for these qualities around the world. For Carlsberg Malawi , ALECTIA has helped create a packaging line for returnable bottles with a syrup plant that provides immediate and long-lasting value for the growing company.

The new facility will be ready for production in the autumn of 2011.
