William Grant & Sons Introduces 50-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky
Each bottle is accompanied by a leather-bound book detailing the history of the whisky
William Grant & Sons Distillers unveiled a Glenfiddich 50-year aged version of the liquor that is priced at £10,000.
The Distillers is said to release 50 bottles per year, over a span of next ten years. The whisky was kept in two casks in the Banffshire distillery's warehouse.
The first bottle is expected to go on sale in the month of September. Bottles will be available at select-airports worldwide for next two months and then at the retailers.
A 64-year-old Glenfiddich released in 2001 was sold for £10,000 per bottle then and was the oldest single malt produced, the company noted.
Peter Gordon, chair of distillery owner William Grant & Sons, said: The Glenfiddich 50 Year Old is the pinnacle of our whisky-making excellence and epitomises my great-great grandfather's vision of creating the very 'best dram in the valley'.
Each bottle comes in leather-bound case.
