Thai Beverage, the maker of Chang Beer, has received permission from Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission to list on the Singapore stock exchange.
Thai Beverage originally planned to list on the Thai bourse, but public protests over the listing of an alcohol business which many believe runs counter to Buddhist teachings, led to authorities reconsidering the rules. A local listing may be considered once legislation governing the alcohol industry is passed.
The company is hoping to raise THB40 billion through the IPO, and may eventually end up with a dual listing. A Thailand listing would represent the biggest IPO the exchange has ever seen.
