PepsiCo has announced the launch of a new line of fortified, low-fat flavored milk beverages called Quaker Milk Chillers, as part of an effort to boost its sales of noncarbonated drinks.
The new chocolate, strawberry and vanilla flavored beverages will be made with 2% fat-reduced milk and fortified with calcium and other vitamins, the company said in a statement.
The drinks, reportedly targeted at teenagers and young adults, come in 14-ounce single-serve plastic bottles and will be available in stores in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the US this week.
"Quaker Milk Chillers enable [people] to get many of milk's nutrients...without all of the calories and sugar found in most flavored milks," said Chad Dick, director of marketing innovation, Pepsi-Cola North America. "We hope people will reach for Quaker Milk Chillers rather than a cookie or a candy bar."
Quaker Milk Chillers will sold in grocery stores, drug stores, mass merchandisers, school vending machines and selected food service accounts.
