Pepsi Beverages Buys California Bottler
Pepsi Beverages Company (PBC), a division of PepsiCo, has completed its acquisition of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Yuba City. Financial terms of the transaction were not revealed. The Yuba City, California based company is a franchised bottler of Pepsi-Cola, catering to some of the northern California regions.
While PepsiCo continues to work in close partnership with scores of franchised bottlers across the US, PBC acquired the company as part of its ongoing practice of acquiring franchises that become available as a means to build scale and efficiency in its company-owned bottling operations.
PepsiCo and PepsiAmericas previously acquired The Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) in February to form Pepsi Beverages Company. The companies believe that these mergers are contemplated to offer a set of strategic advantages, which will provide the great benefits in North America and Europe, where the bottlers have operations.
Pepsi Beverages Company (PBC) is PepsiCo's beverage manufacturing, sales and distribution operating unit in the US, Canada and Mexico. PBC handles approximately 75% of PepsiCo's North America beverage volume.
Its portfolio of beverage brands includes Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Aquafina, Gatorade, SoBe, Lipton, and Amp Energy. PBC also manufactures and/or distributes non-Pepsi brands, including Dr Pepper, Crush, Rockstar, and Muscle Milk, in many markets. The operating unit is headquartered in Westchester County, New York.
PepsiCo produces around 19 different product lines. The company's primary businesses are Frito-Lay, Quaker, Pepsi-Cola, Tropicana and Gatorade, which are available to consumers in around 200 countries.
