New Belgium to build second brewery
Colorado-based craft brewer New Belgium Brewing is set to build its second brewery in Asheville, North Carolina, with an investment of around $175m.
The new brewery and packaging facility will have a production capacity of 400,000-barrels.
The 150,000ft² facility will include a 200-barrel brewing system, a tasting facility and a process wastewater treatment center on-site.
Construction of the new brewery is expected to begin in early 2013 and complete by 2015, creating 50 new jobs and start production in early 2015.
The company will receive a $1m grant from the One North Carolina fund if it creates 130 jobs and invests $115m over the next five years.
New Belgium's portfolio includes Fat Tire Amber Ale, Ranger IPA, Belgo IPA, Sunshine Wheat, Blue Paddle Pilsner, 1554 Black Ale, Abbey, Mothership Wit and Trippel, and some seasonal releases.
