To cater to growing demand for bottled water in Malaysia
Fraser & Neave (F&N), a beverage producer, has started its second mineral water plant in Bentong, Pahang. The company aims to earn revenues of RM100m over five years, Bernama reported.
Tan Ang Meng, CEO of F&N, stated that the new mineral water plant located on a 6.65-acre land was opened to meet the growing demand for bottled water in Peninsular Malaysia.
Mr Meng was quoted by media sources saying: "Following the opening of the first mineral water plant in Kuching in 2006, this second plant will complement the company's plan to be a world-class regional total beverage company."
According to Bernama, the company is constructing a 16,000 square feet warehouse adjacent to the plant to store around 130,000 cases of the product. The plant is going to increase Borneo Springs', the subsidiary of the group, total production capacity of mineral water by approximately two million cases per year.
Mr Meng added: "This will strengthen the group's dominance of the ready-to-drink market and to reinforce its position as a major Malaysian water producer with mineral water sources. We need to have a capital expenditure of another RM20m to RM30m over a five-year period for further investment."
