Courvoisier launches new addition to collection L'Essence Cognacs

DBR Staff Writer Published 25 August 2010

Courvoisier, a producer of cognacs, has launched a new addition to its collection of luxury cognacs, L'Essence de Courvoisier.

The company said that only 50 bottles L'Essence de Courvoisier will now be sold in select liquor stores and on-premise accounts Canada-wide at an approximate retail price of $3,200 per bottle.

This new cognac blend consists of special reserves from the early 20th century offering depth and harmony to L'Essence de Courvoisier, which is complemented with 'eaux de vie' from the later 20th century.

Courvoisier has partnered with French crystal house Baccarat to create a crystal decanter, which is handmade and features a conceived decanter suspended in a frame inspired by the signature Courvoisier teardrop silhouette.

Courvoisier's association with Napoleon is renowned, and his pioneering outlook still influences the cognac house today. The crystal stopper on the decanter is inspired by the legend of Napoleon's ten signet rings, which were bestowed upon favoured military commanders who had committed noble acts.

Courvoisier Canada brand Manager Nina Knezevic said that L'Essence de Courvoisier embodies company's commitment to heritage and tradition and supports desire to evolve.

L'Essence de Courvoisier blender creator and master-blender Jean-Marc Olivier said that L'Essence de Courvoisier is a timeless blend of the finest 'eaux de vie' from the last two centuries.

Hand-selected as the most innovative of their generation, blended together to produce L'Essence de Courvoisier - a definitive cognac for any era, Olivier said.
