Chilean Wine Company Moves Wine Operations To Coastal Regions Of Casablanca, Limarí

The company to grow all white varieties in these regions
Chilean wine company Concha y Toro is shifting the majority of its Casillero del Diablo white wine operations from Central Valley to the coastal regions of Casablanca and Limarí, reported Drinks International. All Casillero del Diablo varieties affected will now carry the region on the bottle.
The company claims to have spent approximately $10m on a new winery in Limarí and it also owns 800 hectares of vineyard in the region.
The website reported that Casillero del Diablo sold 2.8 million cases in 2008 and the UK is the largest export market. The company plans to tell consumers about the new regionality on the bottles through trade marketing and trade education.
Concha y Toro produces several different wine styles including a Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc made from grapes the Maule Valley. The company also produces a barrel fermented Chardonnay and a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Among the varietals it produces are White - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Gewürztraminer and Red - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère.
