Boston-based startup Drizly makes Calgary debut

DBR Staff Writer Published 26 August 2016

Drizly announced its expansion with Liquor Stores N A, North America’s largest publicly traded liquor retailer and parent company to the owner of Liquor Depot, to bring fast, convenient delivery of beer, wine and spirits to Calgary.

Legal-age consumers in the greater Calgary area including Altadore, Aspen Woods, Beltline, Bowness, Brentwood, Bridgeland, Crescent Heights, Huntington Hills, Mount Royal, Parkhill, Ramsey and more can now use the Drizly mobile app or website to shop and order from thousands of products from Liquor Depot with delivery in less than one hour.

Drizly co-founder and CEO Nick Rellas said: “This past February marked Drizly’s first international market launch in Edmonton and the adoption of Drizly from area residents far exceeded our expectations.

“Given this success, we’re expanding with Liquor Depot to continue enhancing the alcohol retail experience in Western Canada.”

By simply downloading the free Drizly app on iOS, Android or visiting Drizly.ca, consumers will find a shopping experience that is user-friendly, fast and efficient.

Drizly also lets consumers schedule deliveries when it is most convenient for them, earn referral rewards or easily send the gift of beer, wine or spirits to friends, family and colleagues of legal drinking age.

Liquor Stores N.A president and CEO Stephen Bebis said: “Alberta is our corporate home-base and after seeing how our customers embraced the delivery service in Edmonton, it’s natural to expand to Calgary next.

“As a leading liquor retailer in North America, we understand the importance to continually bring new and innovative ways for our consumers to shop our selection. Working with Drizly is a perfect example of innovative ideas that keep our shoppers loyal to Liquor Depot.”
